How the wood wall hangings are made
Once the design is set and plans drawn, the general outline and order of events are as follows
1. Cut the backing board to size. The backing board is a sheet of wood, particle, ply or mdf 20 to 30mm thick

2. Most of the painting is done now. Acrylic paint is used

3. Pieces of wood are now sanded, stained , shaped and cut to produce an image on the backing board. Minimum thickness is normally 20mm. Each wood piece is glued to the backing board and to other wood pieces where appropriate. Here, the grain of the wood features as well as a 3D image creation

4. When the image is completed a finishing oil is added to enhance the image and provide protection. A frame is now added and also a hanging wire to the rear so the wall hanging is ready to go.
